Getting Started with TonOfBricks

Everything you need to know about your rental — from opening the box to sending it back.

What's in the box

When your set arrives, you'll find:

  • All the LEGO pieces, packed carefully in bag(s) — please keep the bags safe as you'll need them to return the pieces when you're done
  • A QR code on the bag linking to the digital building instructions for your set

For most sets, all pieces are packed together in a single bag — just tip them out and get building!

For larger sets, pieces are sorted into separate bags by colour to make things easier:

  • One or two bags marked with the colour of bricks they contain
  • A bag for all other colours mixed together

Building your set

Scan the QR code on one of the bags to access the digital building instructions for your set.

There's no rush — you can keep your set for as long as you like while your subscription is active. Take your time and enjoy the build!

A few tips:

  • Build on a flat, clear surface to avoid losing pieces
  • Keep the bags handy — you'll need them when you return the set
  • If you notice any pieces are missing or damaged, you can report them directly from your account page using the Report Missing Pieces button

Returning your set

When you're ready to move on to your next build, here's what to do:

Step 1 — Disassemble the set

Carefully take the set apart. There's no need to separate pieces by type or colour at this stage.

Step 2 — Pack the pieces

For smaller sets: Put all the pieces back into the single bag they came in.

For larger sets: Sort the pieces back into the correct bags:

For example:

  • Black pieces → back in the black pieces bag
  • Grey pieces → back in the grey pieces bag
  • All other colours → back in the mixed colours bag

Give the bags a good seal and place them back in the box.

Step 3 — Request your return

Log in to your account at tonofbricks.co.uk and click 'Request Return' on your active rental. You'll be asked to choose your nearest InPost locker or shop for drop-off. If you're local to Basingstoke, we'll arrange to collect the set from you instead.

Step 4 — Drop off your set

We'll email you a return QR code. Simply take the box to your chosen InPost locker or shop, scan the QR code and drop it off — no printing required.

If you're within 10 miles of Basingstoke, we'll be in touch by email to arrange a convenient collection day and time instead — no InPost locker needed.
